Save the Schuylkill was founded by a group of kayak and paddle board enthusiasts who relish the beauty of the river and are dedicated to improving our environment.
This cleanup is a partnership between Save the Schuylkill, Litter Lifters of West Vincent Township and Green Valleys Watershed to mobilize resources and volunteers.
Jon boats- flat bottom aluminum boats- will be used as floating trash cans in the river. River-based volunteers need to bring their own kayak and/or paddle board, with life jacket and whistle.
There will also be a land-based crew that will clean up the riverbank off of the Schuylkill River Trail between Lock 60 & the Dog Park.
Gloves, trash bags, litter pickers, and liability waivers will be provided.
The cleanup will tackle a neglected area of the Schuylkill River with an estimated 100 dumped tires and lots of assorted debris.
