Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy Announces 2021 Environmental Award Winners; Nov. 1-8 Celebration

The
Perkiomen Watershed Conservancy announces the organization’s 2021 Environmental Award Recipients in conjunction with their annual A Night for Conservation: Benefit & Virtual Silent Auction. 

Every year, five recipients are selected by PWC to receive the award for their outstanding contributions of time, talent and resources to protecting or restoring the Perkiomen Creek Watershed. 

This year, the awardees are -- 

-- Student Leadership Award - Kali Pupo & Macy Turner: For their dedication to assisting PWC’s conservation team with the annual native plant project, community clean-ups, and with the start-up of PWC’s Floating Classroom.

-- Municipal Award - Marlborough Township: For their dedication to protecting the watershed by adding native trees to their open spaces and increasing recreation opportunities by working with PWC in installing a boat ramp.

-- Land Use Award - West Rockhill Township: For their leadership in installing solar energy systems, as well as educating the public about renewable and solar energy systems and the importance of native plants.

-- Teaching Excellence Award - Danielle Emers: For enhancing student education and learning experience by leading environmental efforts in the community and creating a native plant and pollinator friendly garden in the courtyard of PV Middle School West.

-- Friend of the Watershed Award - Alex Ulmer: For his assistance in helping PWC bring about awareness of projects and training opportunities, and his dedication to the conservation committee.

Nov. 1-8 Celebration

A Night for Conservation: Benefit & Virtual Silent Auction is an entirely online bidding event that hosts donations made from community members and local businesses from across the watershed. 

Bidding begins Monday, November 1st at 8:00 a.m. and ends Monday, November 8th at 8:00 p.m.

The Perkiomen Watershed encompasses 362 square miles (231,680 acres) and 55 municipalities in four Pennsylvania counties: Berks, Bucks, Lehigh and Montgomery.
