Pennsylvania has two coastal areas that are part of this program-- the 112-mile Delaware Estuary in Bucks, Delaware and Philadelphia counties; and the 77- mile shoreline along Lake Erie in Erie County.
The draft assessment and strategy is part of a voluntary coastal zone enhancement grants program that encourages states and territories to develop program changes in one or more of the following nine coastal enhancement areas: coastal wetlands; coastal hazards; public access; marine debris; cumulative and secondary impacts; special area management planning; ocean/Great Lakes resources; energy and government facility siting and activities; and aquaculture.
