Federal Court has granted the motion of 16 PA Senate Democratic Caucus members filed a motion to intervene in the lawsuit brought by the entire PA Senate Republican Caucus to overturn the ban on natural gas fracking adopted by the Delaware River Basin Commission, according to the Bucks County Courier Times. The Democratic Caucus members who signed onto the motion to intervene are Steve Santarsiero (D-Bucks), Carolyn Comitta (D-Chester), Amanda Cappelletti (D-Montgomery), Maria Collett (D-Montgomery), Wayne Fontana (D- Allegheny), Art Haywood (D-Montgomery), Vince Hughes (D-Philadelphia), John Kane (D-Chester), Tim Kearney (D- Delaware), Katie Muth (D- Berks), John Sabatina (D-Philadelphia), Nikil Saval (D- Philadelphia), Judy Schwank (D- Berks), Sharif Street (D- Philadelphia), Tina Tartaglione (D-Philadelphia), and Anthony Williams (D-Philadelphia).
Sen. Gene Yaw (R-Lycoming), the Majority Chair of the Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee, and Sen. Lisa Baker (R-Luzerne) as well as the entire Senate Republican Caucus and Damascus Township in Wayne County joined in the lawsuit against DRBC.
The Republican lawsuit was filed in support of ongoing legal efforts by Wayne County landowners to overturn the Delaware River Basin drilling moratorium dating back before 2017. Read more here.
