On August 18, DEP's Citizens Advisory Council voted to approve a letter to all DEP staff for their "tremendous effort "and "the work you have done during these trying times" as they worked during the COVID-19 global pandemic.
The text of the letter follows--
The Citizens Advisory Council (CAC) to the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) would like to commend all agency staff at DEP for the exceptional continuity of operations displayed during the COVID-19 global pandemic.
As we have heard at our monthly meetings and in feedback from the regulated community, you have endeavored to operate effectively and efficiently despite the numerous challenges presented by the pandemic
The work ethic, coordination and professionalism displayed by DEP employees should be recognized as a model for conducting state government business during an emergency, particularly as most transitioned to telework.
DEP staff have answered the call to serve the citizens of the Commonwealth, protect our natural resources, and keep projects moving to support our economy-- all while adjusting to the strain the pandemic placed on all our personal lives and families.
The CAC comments this tremendous effort and appreciates the work you have done during these trying times.
On behalf of the citizens of this Commonwealth, thank you!
Sincerely,
Jerome Shabazz
Chair, Citizens Advisory Council
