The Stroud Water Research Center will host a Brown Bag Lecture on the Invasive Spotted Lanternfly at the Center, 970 Spencer Road in Avondale, Chester County from Noon to 1:00 p.m.
Emelie Swackhamer, horticulture educator with Penn State Extension, will present her experience with the spotted lanternfly, a new invasive species that threatens agriculture in Pennsylvania.
The spotted lanternfly was first discovered in September 2014 in eastern Pennsylvania. It has the potential to impact grapes, stone fruits, ornamental plants, and forest product industries. Early detection is vital for the protection of Pennsylvania businesses and agriculture.
