Mark your calendar to be part of the action during the 2019 Ohio River Sweep on June 15 in Western Pennsylvania.
The River Sweep, an annual six-state effort to clean up litter and debris in the Ohio River watershed, is the largest organized volunteer river cleanup effort in the country. The event winds through Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia and Illinois, covering more than 2,400 miles of shoreline.
In Pennsylvania, cleanup events will take place along the along the Allegheny, Monongahela and Ohio rivers.
Poster Contest Winners
Two Pennsylvania students were winners in the Ohio River Sweep Poster contest this year.
They were Ella DeVore, Grade 6, from Woodland Hills Academy (photo left) in Westmoreland County and Kelly Kypta, Grade 10, from Hopewell Senior High School (photo right) in Beaver County.
