Penn State Water Research Showcase To Be Held March 29 In State College

On March 29 the Penn State Water Research and Education Initiative of the Institutes of Energy and the Environment will be hosting a showcase and networking event for researchers focused on water starting at 3:00 p.m. at the 110 Henderson Building at University Park in State College.  Click Here to join the program online (register with your name and email.)
Penn State’s water scientists, researchers and educators have led decades of high impact research, education and service addressing the many dimensions of water, including: water quality and quantity, transport and infrastructure, and energy-water-land interactions.
This event will give researchers the opportunity to learn about Penn State water research, teaching and extension projects and activities, and to identify potential collaborators for future water activities.
“Penn Staters who are involved in water research, education and outreach do not necessarily know who else is doing similar work at the University,” said Odette Mina, Energy and Environmental Sustainability Laboratories managing director. “This event will provide water researchers an opportunity to meet one another and to learn about ongoing research, as well as identify collaboration opportunities.”
The event will feature lightning talks, where researchers will present for three to five minutes about their water-related research. An informal reception and poster session will follow the presentations at 5:00 p.m.
The Water Research and Education Initiative has four primary goals:
-- To develop community and coordination among water scientists at Penn State;
-- To energize water scientists at Penn State to push across boundaries in research, education and outreach;
-- To provide mentorship opportunities to water scientists at Penn State; and
-- To develop interdisciplinary leaders who utilize the great breadth and depth of expertise across Penn State to lead on water issues worldwide.
For more information about the showcase, contact Bob Caccese by sending email to: rtc5057@psu.edu  or Odette Mina by sending email to: odette.mina@psu.edu.
The Water Showcase is sponsored through the Institutes of Energy and the Environment, under the auspices of Penn State’s Vice President for Research, Neil Sharkey.
