Alissa Burger Joins PA Environmental Council As Senior Policy Advisor For Energy & Climate

The PA Environmental Council Friday announced Alissa Burger has joined the organization as Senior Policy Advisor for Energy  and Climate.
In this new role, she is responsible for implementation of PEC’s ongoing decarbonization initiative, working with state and national stakeholders to achieve deep carbon and greenhouse gas emission reductions in Pennsylvania.
“Having Alissa join PEC with her wealth of expertise and experience working collaboratively on energy policy gives us the ability to continue what we think is really groundbreaking work in some of these areas,” says Davitt Woodwell, PEC’s President.
Alissa comes to PEC with national and international experience in climate issues, distributed energy resources, and low-carbon futures.
Prior to joining PEC in 2018, Alissa worked on climate and energy policy at the Center for Sustainable Energy in California; the Institute for Market Transformation and the German Marshall Fund of the United States in Washington, D.C.; and PennFuture and Sustainable Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.
Her recent work has focused on transformative market mechanisms, building performance policy, overcoming regulatory barriers, clean energy investment, urban innovations, and climate resiliency strategies.
“This is a really exciting opportunity in that Pennsylvania obviously is a huge player in the energy space, both from a production standpoint and in terms of technology,” Alissa says. “To be back in my hometown and home state and be able to carry this work forward is really exciting to me.”
Alissa Burger can be contacted at 412-481-9400 or send email to: aburger@pecpa.org.
