DEP Issues Air Quality Plan Approval For Atlantic Sunrise Pipeline In Lancaster County

After detailed review, the Department of Environmental Protection Friday announced it has issued an Air Quality Plan Approval for air emissions related to construction activities in Lancaster County for the Atlantic Sunrise Pipeline Project proposed by Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line Company, LLC.
“DEP thoroughly reviewed the application to ensure that temporary emissions during the construction phase of this project will be minimal and completely offset by reductions elsewhere,” said DEP Secretary Patrick McDonnell.
The Plan Approval authorizes the use of Emission Reduction Credits (ERCs) to comply with the offset requirements of Pennsylvania law.
DEP issued the Chapter 102 and 105 permits for the pipeline on August 31. DEP published formal notices of those county by county permits in the September 9 PA Bulletin starting on page 5654 to 5732.
Transco, the operator of the pipeline, will require approval from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to begin construction.
