Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful Wednesday issued its annual newsletter summarizing the accomplishments of its partners and network of affiliates around the state in 2016. Highlighted were--
-- 158,821 Volunteers Picked Up Over 5 Million Pounds Of Trash During Great American Cleanup Of PA;
-- 13,800 Volunteers Picked Up 860,000 pounds of trash during International Coastal Cleanup;
-- Highlights of other cleanups: Juniata River, The Tireless Project In Allegheny County, Tire Cleanups Statewide
-- Cigarette Litter Prevention Program Achieves 43 Percent Reduction In State Parks;
-- National and state awards and grants won by KPB, its partners and affiliates;
-- Initiatives taken on enforcement to reduce littering and illegal dumping;
-- Weis Markets & Centre County Partnering On America Recycles Day Poster Contest;
-- Fresh Paint Days Grants Awarded
-- KPB Partners With Westmoreland County On Land Bank
-- Litter Free School Zones Program Expands
-- KPB, Partner Adoption Programs Help Keep Communities Litter Free
-- KPB 25 Community Improvement Grants
Since 1990, Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful and its partners and affiliates have cleaned up 126,576,587 pounds of trash, recycled 4,882,860 pounds of electronics waste, properly disposed of 872,439 tires, cleaned 169,436 miles of road and involved 2,186,150 volunteers.
