The PA Resources Council and the Eastern Delaware County Stormwater Collaborative are sponsoring a Rain Barrel Workshop on March 23 at the Morton Borough Hall, 500 Highland Ave., Morton starting at 6:30 p.m.
Attendees will learn how to construct and install fully functional rain barrels made from recycled food grade barrels.
A rain barrel is a system that connects to your downspout to collect and store rainwater from your roof that would otherwise be lost to runoff and diverted to storm drains, streams and rivers.
Residents will be given the rain barrels to take home and use on their properties to help alleviate stormwater runoff.
There are a limited number of rain barrels available at each workshop. A rain barrel will be provided to the first 50 workshop attendees. Limit one rain barrel per household.
The workshops are being funded through a Growing Greener grant from the Department of Environmental Protection.
