The Sept. 5 PA Environment Digest is now available. Here are just a few of the headlines--
PJM Thursday released its analysis of the impacts on wholesale electricity costs and grid reliability of the Environmental Protection Agency’s Final Clean Power Plan rule. The report states that, overall, the carbon dioxide emissions reduction goals of the CPP can be achieved within the PJM footprint under each of the seven compliance pathways studied without compromising the fundamental way in which the PJM market operates.
Levelized compliance costs range from $0.61/MWh for a regional compliance pathway to $1.93/MWh for a state compliance pathway that includes the regulation of both new and existing sources.
These costs would be equivalent to 1.1 percent to 3.3 percent, respectively, of the average total wholesale cost of electricity.
For the average Pennsylvania household it would mean from 53 cents to $1.67 cents a month, according to Lindsay Baxter, Energy and Climate Program Manager for the PA Environmental Council.
