Ready, Set, Hike! All Trails Challenge In The Wissahickon Valley Park Begins Aug. 20

Beginning August 20, people can hike, bike, run or ride a horse in the Wissahickon Valley Park in Montgomery County  and explore all 50 miles of the park as part of the All Trails Challenge, a fundraising effort by Friends of the Wissahickon to benefit the park.
“We are inviting outdoor enthusiasts from the Philadelphia region   to take advantage of this amazing opportunity to experience all 50 miles of the Wissahickon’s trails,” said Maura McCarthy, Friends of the Wissahickon executive director. “We’re asking people to enjoy the park and raise money for its continued preservation at the same time. It’s our turn to give back to the park that is there for us every day.”
The All Trails Challenge will continue throughout the fall and will end on November 29.
The event will kick off with a party for challenge participants at Valley Green Inn and there will be mileage and fundraising incentives, giveaways and scheduled hikes and walks with great prizes, including exclusive vacations for our top mileage and fundraising participants.
All participants who have registered with a minimum of $50 raised or contributed are eligible to compete for prizes based on miles completed. Participants will track their mileage through online tracking apps.
Prizes include a 5-day/4-night stay at an all-inclusive 4-star resort in Punta Cana for the top fundraiser through the challenge (minimum of $5,000 raised); a weekend getaway at a luxury Pennsylvania resort; iPads; a night on the town in Philadelphia and much more.
There will be All Trails Challenge happy hours and swag bags for participants.
Sponsors of the All Trails Challenge as of August 4 include McFarland Tree and Landscape, Machinery, Nolan Painting, with additional support by Balance, Justian Travels, Philly Outside, Victory Brewing Co., P.M. Munchies, Wissahickon Brewing Company and Woodmere Art Museum.
Sponsorship opportunities are still available. Contact Lorraine Awuku by sending email to: awuku@fow.org.
