30,000+ Students Participate In PA Trout In The Classroom Program

The Fish and Boat Commission Wednesday reported 30,000+ students in 283 classrooms across Pennsylvania participated in the PA Trout In The Classroom Program.  A joint project of the Commission and the PA Council of Trout Unlimited.
During the school year students rase Brook Trout, Pennsylvania’s state fish, from eggs to fingerlings and then release them into an approved trout water.
Each teacher tailors the TIC program to fit their curricular needs; therefore, each program is unique. TIC has applications in science, mathematics, social studies, language & fine arts, and physical education.
The students, in grades 3 to 12 also learn about coldwater conservation, watersheds, trout habitat and ways to enjoy Pennsylvania’s water resources.
