House GOP Bill To Open State Parks To Private Development Moving To House Vote

A House Republican initiative-- House Bill 2013 (Ellis-R-Butler)-- to open Pennsylvania’s State Parks to private development-- was unanimously reported out of the House Rules Committee Monday.  It is scheduled to be amended on the House Floor TODAY and considered for a final vote in the House TUESDAY.
The bill has been opposed by a variety of environmental and parks groups, including the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and the PA Parks and Forests Foundation.
Former Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary John Oliver has also joined in opposing the bill.

  1. Removing the protections from the things and reasons why these places are intentionally preserved. This is truly preposterous!

  2. This land was preserved for the public use, not some private company to make a profit.
