The Stroud Water Research Center in Chester County is searching for an individual to help coordinate a two-year, multi-disciplinary effort to engage the public in watershed/stream restoration and preservation science.
The position will involve extensive interaction with volunteer monitors and other types of citizen scientists as well as local watershed non-governmental organizations (NGOs), scientists, various academic faculty at area universities, and water-related professionals in watersheds throughout the Delaware River basin.
The individual should have a skill set that enables them to plan, organize, and lead workshops with diverse audiences that focus on water quality monitoring (physical, chemical, and biological), watershed restoration techniques/approaches, and data analysis and interpretation.
A proven ability to communicate both verbally and in writing across scientific and lay audiences is desired.
The position involves field, laboratory, and classroom activities/workshops that may occur throughout the Delaware River basin geography. Travel will be required, including evening, overnight, or weekend programs.
The position starts in winter 2016 (as soon as possible) and is currently funded through December 2017 (two years) with the possibility of extension for additional years conditional upon funding availability.
