Senate Environmental Committee Sets Hearing On Sewage Facilities Act Dec. 8

The Senate Environmental Resources and Energy Committee will hold a hearing on the Sewage Facilities Act (Act 537) on December 8 in Room 8E-B East Wing Capitol Building in Harrisburg starting at 9:30.
Those scheduled to testify before the Committee include--

-- Duane Mowery, Chairman, DEP Sewage Advisory Committee
-- Elam Herr, PA State Association of Township Supervisors
-- PA Sewage Enforcement Officers Assn: Chris Wood, PASEO President, Roger Lehmann, PASEO Past President, Jim Sanders, PASEO Board Member
-- Robert Wood, PA Realtors Association
-- Bruce P. Willman, CPSS, PA Association of Professional Soil Scientists
-- Julian A. Mazero, Associated Builders and Contractors, Keystone Chapter
-- Thaddeus Stevens, Member, DEP Citizens Advisory Council
Act 537 was originally passed in 1968 to provide for the planning, permitting and design of all types of sewage facilities including onlot septic systems.
DEP’s Citizens Advisory Council has been active in recent years urging DEP to undertake a comprehensive review of the Act 573 planning process and approve the use of tested and proven alternative technology systems as part of its regular onlot sewage planning program.
