PA Senior Environment Corps Volunteers Needed In DuBois-Jefferson County Area

Are you 55 years or older, live in the DuBois area or Jefferson County and want to become involved in protecting our resources and educating the public on the natural world? If so, the new DuBois-Jefferson Senior Environment Corps wants you.
Senior Environment Corps members can participate in a variety of tasks from monitoring water-quality, observing and reporting on wildlife, reaching out to the public on environmental issues, and even helping with office tasks. The possibilities are endless.
Nature Abounds, a locally based national non-profit and national parent of the Senior Environment Corps will be the host of the new group.
“The Pennsylvania Senior Environment Corps members have been monitoring the water quality of the Commonwealth’s streams since 1997, and we’ve had a group in the Clearfield area since 2000,” said Melinda Hughes-Wert, Nature Abounds President.  “We’re excited to expand our reach in the DuBois and Jefferson County area. SEC members may also mentor the next generation of environmental stewards and help with park clean-ups and trail restoration.”
The group invites seniors that are interested in the environment to join the SEC. One of the first projects the new group will work on is water quality monitoring of the streams in the local area.
