Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, Berks County, invites walkers and runners of all ages to tackle its Annual Hawk Mountain Hill Climb, a 5K run or walk held June 13 at 8 a.m. This event is held rain or shine and costs $25 or $30 after June 1.
“The Hill Climb is a fun and challenging uphill course and features a mix of rural and forest scenery along a paved road,” says Hawk Mountain Director of Communication Mary Linkevich.
Shuttle service is provided from the Hawk Mountain parking lot to the starting line, where the course begins in the scenic Kempton Valley and climbs to the top of Hawk Mountain following Hawk Mountain Road.
Participants finish at the Visitor Center and awards are presented at 11 am to Overall Male and Female, and to the top three male and female finishers in each age category.
The first 200 who register by calling 610-756-6961 will receive the Hawk Mountain Hill Climb tee and goodie bag, and the cost also includes breakfast items, bagged lunch, and awards ceremony immediately following the run.
Registration forms are available online or at the Sanctuary Visitor Center. All proceeds benefit Hawk Mountain Sanctuary conservation programs.
