The PA Wildlife Leadership Academy will begin accepting applications from students and adult mentors to be part of the 2015 field schools on January 1. Applications are due April 1.
The mission of the Wildlife Leadership Academy is to empower youth to become ambassadors for wildlife conservation in order to ensure a sustained wildlife legacy for future generations.
A year round program, the Academy begins with rigorous summer field schools that focus on wildlife biology and conservation as well as leadership skills development and continues with community outreach through education, service, and interaction with media and the arts.
The Academy will accept applications from students from 14 to 17 interested in wildlife, conservation and the outdoors. Applicants will be selected based on several criteria: references, academic achievements and activities, non-academic achievements and activities and a personal essay.
As an example of the kinds of projects students can get involved in, watch this video by Hannah who shares her interest in the monarch butterfly.
The Academy will also be accepting applications for adult mentors to be part of this program.
