Penn State Extension is offering a series of Drinking Water Clinics in 2014 that include discounted water testing through the Penn State water testing laboratory.
Clinics are being offered for the following dates and locations: January 14 (Mercer County), March 12 (Westmoreland County), March 27 (Butler County), April 8 (McKean County), April 15 (Jefferson County), June 4 (Franklin County).
Homeowners who register for a clinic can pick up a water test kit from the Extension office and drop off the sample on an appointed date, approximately one month before the Clinic. Water test results are then distributed at the Clinic where homeowners can receive individualized interpretation and information on proper management of their water well, spring or cistern.
The cost for these workshops is $72 (a 40 percent savings) which includes a water test for coliform bacteria, E. coli bacteria, pH, total dissolved solids, nitrate and arsenic.
