The non-profit environmental group Nature Abounds is seeking a board member to represent the Mid-Atlantic Region which covers New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Washington D.C., Delaware, Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia.
Nature Abounds educates and empowers citizens to sustain their community through environmental stewardship such as watershed protection, conservation of native flora and fauna and overall "going green."
Recent initiatives include entering into a partnership with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to revitalize and expand the Pennsylvania Senior Environment Corps, a group of volunteers across the state aged 55+ that perform tasks like monitoring water quality, marking abandoned wells, and educating others to be better environmental stewards.
In addition to EPA, the group is supported by the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies and are regularly advised by the Department of Environmental Protection.
For more information on the Board position, contact Melinda Hughes-Wert, President, Nature Abounds, by sending email to: melinda@natureabounds.org or calling 814-765-1453.
