DEP Invites Comments On Water Quality Permits For A Consol Coal Company Pipeline To Dispose Of Coal Refuse Disposal Area Sediment Pond Overflow Into Underground Mine Workings In Washington County

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the August 1 PA Bulletin inviting comments on permits for a Consol PA Coal Company, LLC pipeline to convey overflow discharges from the Coal Refuse Disposal Area No. 5 Sediment Pond 13 to injection wells for disposal into underground mine workings in Richhill Twp., Greene County. (PA Bulletin, page 4621)

The applicant for the Chapter 105 permit and a Section 401 Water Quality Certification proposes to construct a 1,500-foot-long pipeline between the existing SP01 Injection Borehole and the existing A6 Injection Borehole.

This is a revision to the existing Chapter 105 Water Obstruction and Encroachment permit and 401 Water Quality Certification, approved June 7, 2010.

No hearing has been scheduled, but one can be requested.

Comments are due August 31-- 30 days from this notice.
