PA Oil & Gas Industrial Facilities: Permit Notices, Opportunities To Comment - May 16

The following notices were published in the
May 16 PA Bulletin related to oil and gas industry facilities.  Many of the notices offer the opportunity for public comments.

-- On May 6, 2026, the Department of Environmental Protection issued a letter to PA General Energy Co. LLC denying its Chapter 105 Encroachment Permit for a proposed 3.9 mile permanent access road and staging area in Loyalsock State Forest in Gamble and Cascade Townships, Lycoming County.  DEP said-- “PGE failed to properly address the mitigation of all stream impacts, provide plans showing that the access road is properly graded in relation to the stream relocation and adjacent stormwater control measures, and provide clarification and detail concerning potential bridge design effects on the Proposed Project’s limits.”  Read more here.

-- DEP published notice in the May 16 PA Bulletin announcing it has issued a Chapter 105 Encroachment permit for a Coterra Energy, Inc. 4.9 mile, 20-inch “aerial” aboveground fresh water pipeline to support shale gas development in Auburn Township, Susquehanna County.  (PA Bulletin, page 2926Read more here.

-- Range Resources-Appalachia, LLC - Shearer Robert Shale Gas Well Pad: DEP approved a Final report on remediation of soil contaminated with production wastewater to meet the Statewide Health Standard at the pad located in Robinson, Twp., Washington County. (PA Bulletin, page 2920

-- CNX Corporation - Harvey 1N  Bleeder Shale Gas Pipeline Pad: DEP approved Final Report on remediation of soil contaminated with ethylene glycol to meet the Statewide Health Standards at the pad located in Center Twp., Greene County. (PA Bulletin, page 2920

-- EQT Corporation - Polecat Hollow Road Synthetic Drilling Mud Spill Site: DEP sent a Technical Deficiency Letter on Final Report on remediation of soil contaminated with aluminum, arsenic, barium, boron, chromium, copper, iron, lead, manganese, strontium, vanadium, zinc [wastewater] that did not demonstrate the cleanup met the Statewide Health Standards at the spill site located in Whiteley Twp., Greene County.
