Penn State Extension Holds April 29 Webinar On How Climate Change Is Impacting Seasonal Events In Nature - Migration, Bud Break, Fall Leaf Color, Human Activities Tied To Seasonal Cycles

The
Penn State Extension will host an April 29 webinar on When Seasons Shift: How Climate Change Is Impacting Seasonal Events in Nature from Noon to 1:00 p.m.

Discover why certain natural events occur at nearly the same time each year. This webinar explores phenology—the study of nature’s seasonal timing—and how environmental cues guide events such as frog calls, bird migration, spring bud break, and fall leaf color.

Learn how climate shifts are altering these patterns, creating mismatches among species and affecting ecosystems, wildlife behavior, and human activities tied to seasonal cycles.

Penn State Extension will discuss how species interactions and life-history strategies are being influenced by these changing conditions.

Who is this for?

-- Outdoor enthusiasts

-- Anyone interested in learning more about the environment around them

-- People interested in wildlife

-- Anyone who wants to connect with nature through community science

-- Master Watershed Stewards, Master Gardeners, Master Naturalists, and other environmental stewards

What will you learn?

-- What phenology is and the common plant and animal phenophases

-- How people have used natural cues to guide their own behaviors

-- Current and potential concerns for plants and animals as climate shifts occur

-- How invasive species are often better adapted to these changes

-- Where to find community science projects to join
