PA Oil & Gas Industrial Facilities: Permit Notices, Opportunities To Comment - January 31

The following notices were published in the
January 31 PA Bulletin related to oil and gas industry facilities.  Many of the notices offer the opportunity for public comments.

-- The Governor’s Office published its latest agency-by-agency Regulatory Agenda in the January 31 PA Bulletin showing the status of regulations in development and an approximate schedule for consideration, including updates to regulations covering conventional oil and gas well operations, new injection well controls and an update to shale gas permit application fees.  Read more here.     


-- DEP published notice in the January 31 PA Bulletin announcing it has issued an Air Quality Plan Approval covering the installation of 15 natural gas-fired electric generators to power an Iron City Wells, LLC  A.I. data center in Karthaus Township, Clearfield County. Land Recycling/Brownfield Cleanups

-- Laurel Pipe Line Co. LP: DEP received a Final Report on remediation of soil and groundwater contaminated with unleaded gasoline to meet the Site-Specific Standards at a site located in Bethel Twp., Delaware County. (PA Bulletin, page 668)

-- Sunoco Inc. - Philadelphia Refinery Sitewide: DEP received a Final Report on remediation of groundwater contaminated with inorganics, lead and fuel oil to meet the Site-Specific Standards at the site located at 3144 West Passyunk Ave., Philadelphia. (PA Bulletin, page 668)

-- EQT Production Company - I-70 Stormwater Management Pond #2: DEP approved a Final Report on remediation of soil and groundwater contaminated with production wastewater to meet the Statewide Health and Background Standard at the site located in South Strabane Twp., Washington County. (PA Bulletin, page 670)


2026 Act 2 Oil & Gas Facility Pollution Cleanups

So far in 2026, DEP received or acted on 10 Act 2 Land Recycling notices related to oil and gas facility site cleanups.

-- EQT Production Company - Oil & Gas Wastewater Processing: DEP invites comments on the withdrawal of the approval of a GP-123 General Residual Waste Permit because the facility was to be located at the Franklin Denny shale gas well site located in Springhill Twp., Greene County.
