On January 12, the
Friends of the Wissahickon announced an in-person/online January 28 public meeting to hear about last year’s improvements and what’s ahead for continuing conservation of Wissahickon Valley Park and the Wissahickon Watershed.

Project Manager Pauline Berkowitz will provide updates on the next phases of the ongoing Germantown Neighborhood Connection Project (aka Harvey Street) and discuss upcoming work including the Pachella Gully Restoration and Sedimentation Reduction Project and the Wissahickon Valley Park Resiliency and Flood Study.

Director of Field Stewardship Shawn Green will share plans to expand the Zone Stewards program and other goals and highlight FOW’s extensive volunteer achievements in 2025 and how to get involved this year.

Staff from Philadelphia's Office of Transportation, Infrastructure, and Sustainability (OTIS) return to provide updates on a study they introduced last year to improve pedestrian and cyclist safety along Walnut Lane and increase connectivity to and from Wissahickon Valley Park.

And representatives from the city’s Department of Planning and Development will discuss the new Philadelphia Trail Master Plan, expected to be released later this year, which was developed to guide the future of urban trail planning in Philadelphia.
