PA Environment Digest Blog: PA Oil & Gas Industrial Facilities: Permit Notices, Opportunities To Comment

The following notices were published in the August 23 PA Bulletin related to oil and gas industry facilities. Many of the notices offer the opportunity for public comments.

-- The Susquehanna River Basin Commission published notice in the August 23 PA Bulletin the Executive Director gave his approval to or renewed 57 general water use permits in June and July for individual shale gas well drilling pads in Bradford, Lycoming, Sullivan, Susquehanna, Tioga, and Wyoming counties. So far in 2025, SRBC issued or renewed 282 general water use permits for shale gas development. Read more here.

-- PA American Water Company - Dimock Water Distribution Center Project: DEP issued a Chapter 105 permit for the construction of a building and other structures, oil and gas wastewater and process water pipelines, 2 public water wells and other facilities at the site located in Dimock Twp., Susquehanna County. Land Recycling/Brownfield Cleanups

-- PA General Energy Co. LLC - DCNR Tract 726B Shale Gas Well Pad: DEP received a Final Report on remediation of soil contaminated with production wastewater to meet the Statewide Health Standards at the pad located in Plunketts Creek Twp., Lycoming County. (PA Bulletin, page 6130)

-- Coterra Energy, Inc. - J. Zick Shale Gas Well Pad I: DEP issued a technical deficiency letter on the Final Report on remediation of soil contaminated with ethylene glycol to meet the Statewide Health Standards at the pad located in Lenox Twp., Susquehanna County. (PA Bulletin, page 6131)

-- Sunoco Inc. - Philadelphia Refinery Site: DEP approved a Final Report on remediation of soil and groundwater contaminated with lead, inorganics, fuel oil to meet the Site-Specific Standards at the facility located at 3144 West Passyunk Ave., Philadelphia. (PA Bulletin, page 6132)
