The event is aimed at enhancing skills, expanding knowledge and growing the capacity of the agricultural conservation workforce — both current and future.
Event organizers anticipate more than 200 conservation professionals from around the state will attend the second annual conference.
The Center for Agricultural Conservation Assistance Training, administered by Penn State Extension, and the State Conservation Commission will host the event.
This conference is designed for conservation district employees, agricultural conservation professionals, and anyone associated with the Agriculture Conservation Assistance Program or other conservation financial assistance programs.
Participants can:
— Stay up to date on ACAP and other conservation financial assistance programs.
— Refresh basic engineering skills and knowledge on the practice approval system.
— Learn about manure storages, horse farms and how to market agricultural conservation programs.
— Improve professional skills and knowledge of practices to solve resource concerns.
— Gain essential skills for working with farmers and agricultural producers.
This conference is supported by and highlights the Pennsylvania Agriculture Conservation Assistance Program but is not exclusive to program staff and administrators.
The conference is open to all conservation professionals, partners and students dedicated to advancing agricultural conservation practices, fostering collaboration, and supporting economic and sustainable agriculture.
Organizers noted that agricultural conservation success in Pennsylvania is a community-driven effort.
