DEP Sets March 11 Environmental Justice Office Hearing On Air Quality Permit For New Pollution Control Devices At Harmon Creek Natural Gas Processing Plant In Washington County

The Department of Environmental Protection has scheduled a March 11 hearing on a proposed Air Quality Plan Approval permit covering new air pollution control equipment to be installed at the Harmon Creek Natural Gas Processing Plant in Smith Township, Washington County.  (

The permit would authorize construction and temporary operation of air contamination sources and air cleaning devices associated with the proposed DeEthanizer II and 330 MMscfd Cryo II projects at the plant.

The hearing is being coordinated by DEP’s Office of Environmental Justice and will be held at the Burgettstown Area Middle/High School Campus, LGI Room, 100 Bavington Road, Burgettstown in Washington County from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Persons wishing to present testimony at the public conference and hearing should register with Emily Green in the Department’s Office of Environmental Justice at 412-442-4042 or via email to emgreen@pa.gov

Initial public comments are due to DEP by March 10.

Persons unable to attend the March 11 hearing may submit a written statement and exhibits within ten (10) days after the hearing.
