Penn State Extension To Hold Feb. 21 In-Person Volunteer Live Staking Workshop In Cumberland County

The
Penn State Extension will hold an in-person Volunteer Live Staking Workshop on February 21 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Orrs Bridge Road Restoration Site, 1 Stone Spring Lane in Camp Hill, Cumberland County. 

Participants will live stake a stretch of the Conodoguinet Creek, a local waterway in need of stream bank stabilization. 

Live staking is a low-cost, easy method of adding fast-growing plants to the banks, helping to create more stable soils and improve the health of the creek. This hands-on event offers both environmental impact and learning opportunities.

What should you bring?

-- Gloves

-- Water bottle

-- Hand pruners (if possible)

-- Waterproof boots or knee-high waders

Who is this for?

-- Anyone interested in learning about easy, low-cost stream restoration techniques 

-- -- Master Watershed Stewards seeking hands-on restoration opportunities

Members of watershed associations interested in stream bank stabilization techniques
