Southwestern PA Community, Health Organizations To Hold Sept. 19 Webinar - One Year After Pitt Shale Gas Health Impacts Studies And The Failure To Fulfill Essential Promises Made To Residents

Southwestern Pennsylvania community and health organizations will hold a
webinar on September 19 at 6:00 p.m. more than one year after the release of the Pitt shale gas development health impact studies to discuss the failure to fulfill essential promises to residents.

The organizations include-- Center for Coalfield Justice, Physicians for Social Responsibility - Pennsylvania, Mountain Watershed Association, Environmental Health Project, and FracTracker Alliance.

Over a year ago this past August, the University of Pittsburgh, with the support of the Pennsylvania Department of Health released the results of the PA Health and Environment Studies.

Those results showed a correlation between the health of kids living in Southwestern Pennsylvania and proximity to shale gas fracking infrastructure.

At the time of the release, the DOH informed community members of several policy changes they would be implementing.

To learn more about how the DOH and Governor Shapiro’s administration have responded to the studies.

The webinar will also discuss the detailed findings of the studies linking fossil fuel operations in Pennsylvania to childhood cancer and other health problems.
