Good Samaritan Proposal Would Plug An Oil & Gas Well Abandoned By A Conventional Driller In Westmoreland County

The Department of Environmental Protection published notice in the January 29 PA Bulletin it has received a proposal under the Environmental Good Samaritan Act to plug an oil and gas well abandoned by a conventional driller in Murrysville Borough, Westmoreland County. (
PA Bulletin, page 754).

The Good Samaritan Program is for landowners, citizens, watershed associations, environmental organizations and governmental entities who do not have a legal responsibility to reclaim abandoned lands, abate water pollution or plug abandoned wells, but are interested in addressing these problems.

Comments on the proposal are due February 27.
