DEP Begins Accepting Applications For Environmental Education Grants Sept. 25

The Department of Environmental Protection announced it will begin accepting applications for
Environmental Education Grants on September 25.  The deadline for applications is December 10.  (formal notice)

Two types of awards, mini grants and general grants will be offered to address the priorities of water, climate change and environmental justice.

Mini grants of up to $3,000 may be awarded for local (school, county, municipality or other defined area) environmental education projects.

General grants may be awarded in amounts ranging from $3,001—$20,000 (Level I) for implementation of large scale regional or Statewide environmental education projects or in amounts ranging from $20,001—$85,000 (Level II), for nonformal education projects that widely engage youth and teachers at the local, State and National levels.

Additionally, Level II projects must demonstrate at least 30% of program participants are members of an environmental justice area.

The Department identifies environmental justice areas as any census tract or census block group where 20 percent or more individuals live in poverty, or 30 percent or more of the population identifies as minority, or both
