Keep PA Beautiful: Local Fall Collection Events For Waste Tires, Other Items Set For Cambria, Fayette, Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin, Perry Counties

Nearly 6,000 tires were collected for recycling in Cambria, Cumberland, McKean and Washington counties during special collection events this spring by local affiliates of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful and now more  events are scheduled for this fall in Cambria, Fayette, Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin and Perry counties.
Keep Cambria County Beautiful, PA CleanWays of McKean County and Keep Washington County Beautiful held tire collections this spring, sponsored in part by the Department of Environmental Protection’s HHW/Small Business Hazardous Waste Collection Program.
PA CleanWays of Cumberland County collaborated with Cumberland County Vector Control for their tire collection.
Altogether, the local affiliates collected a combined total of 5,755 tires from local residents emphasizing the continued need for disposal options for scrap tires. All tires collected will be recycled into products such as mulch, turf, molded products and crumb rubber.
“Special collections, such as the ones coordinated by our affiliates provide a convenient, low cost option for local residents. The tires and appliances that are collected at these events won’t end up over the hill where they would be difficult and costly to remove,” said Shannon Reiter, President of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful.  “I applaud local residents who seek out opportunities to dispose of their bulky items properly and our affiliates for providing this service to their communities.”
