The PA Resources Council announced the winners of the 2015 Lens on Litter Photo Contest and began accepting entries for the 2016 contest. New entries are due October 31.
In the “student” category, the winner of the $1,000 First Place cash prize was Tim Price of Hazleton, an 18 yr. old 12th grade student from Hazleton Area Career Center (photo). Tim’s photo titled “Fenced Out” shows a line of fencing catching blown litter.
The judges awarded the Second Place prize of $500 to Hannah Chop, a 14 yr. old 9th grade student from Canon-McMillan High School in Canonsburg. Hannah was also a 3rd place student winner in 2014. Her photo titled “Littering Gets Me Down in the Dumps” depicts a wooded area used as a dumping ground.
The Third Place prize of $250 was won by Andrew Yenchick, a 10 yr. old 5th grade student from Holy Family Academy in Hazleton. Andrew’s photo titled “Which Side of the Fence Are You On?” shows trash accumulated at the bottom of a fence.
The winner of the $1,000 First Place cash prize in the “adult” category was Marina Meunier of Morton. Her photo titled “Deciduous” shows a row of trees which appear to be dropping litter instead of leaves.
Anthony Sidari of Hazle Township was awarded the Second Place prize of $500 for his photo titled “Working Together Let’s CAN Litter” depicting an upset trash can spewing litter. Anthony was also a 2nd place student winner as a senior in 2014 and a 3rd place student winner in 2013.
The judges awarded the Third Place prize of $250 to Rita Lacey of Pittsburgh. Her photo titled “A Real Jerky Thing to Do!” shows a pond with a floating beef jerky package.
Winners from 2015 and 2014 are available on the Lens On Litter Photo Contest webpage, along with the instructions for submitting entries for the 2016 contest.
