Upcoming Events Celebrate The Accomplishments Of Maurice K. Goddard

Maurice K. (“Doc”) Goddard is recognized by many as the Father of Pennsylvania’s State Parks.  During his tenure as Secretary of the Department of Forests and Waters and later the Department of Environmental Resources, 45 parks were added to Pennsylvania's State Park System.
In celebration of the 100 year anniversary of his birth, the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation has three upcoming events.
First is a birthday party on September 13 at Camp Hill United Methodist church to celebrate Doc Goddard’s remarkable life. The documentary “The Life of Maurice Goddard” will be shown at this event followed by cake, a visit with exhibitors, and catch an update on the Legacy Project’s accomplishments.
On October 13 join PPFF for a metric century bike ride from Pinchot State Park to Codorus State Park and back, followed by refreshments. A shorter ride option is also available. The ride will be led by PPFF Treasurer and former DCNR State Parks Regional Manager Gary Smith, an avid cyclist and trip leader.  Sponsorships are available.
Also on October 13 sponsors will host the 3rd Annual Goddard Trail 5K Run/Walk in Camp Hill.
To register for the events or to learn more, visit the Maurice K. Goddard Legacy Project webpage.
