Penn State Extension Hosting Series Of 6 Workshops On Watershed Teaching Tools For Educators Starting April 23

 
Penn State Extension invites classroom teachers and educators working with 6-12 grade students to participate in free, in-person workshops aimed at enhancing water education from April 23 to May 16.

These workshops, supported by the Department of Environmental Protection’s Environmental Education Grants Program, offer curriculum activity kits and training to integrate water topics across various subjects.

Workshop sessions will be held at 1:00 and 5:30 p.m. on each date--

-- April 23: Carlisle

-- May 14: Allentown

-- May 16: Greensburg

What will you learn?

-- Understand the significance of teaching youth about water and its alignment with the new PA STEELS Standards and MWEE (Meaningful Watershed Educational Experience) framework

-- Receive a free Rain to Drain Curriculum Kit and Book ($60 value), along with hands-on instruction on effectively utilizing the kit

-- Access a free Watershed Decisions Curriculum Kit ($39 value) and receive hands-on guidance on incorporating it into your teaching

-- Learn about the new 2024 Future Master Watershed Stewards (FMWS) program and explore potential partnerships with trained FMWS volunteers for your classroom or program

This workshop is designed for a diverse range of educators working with students in grades 6-12, including:

-- Classroom Teachers in Sciences, Environment & Ecology, and Social Studies disciplines

-- CTC (Career and Technical Center) Teachers specializing in Agriculture, Food & Natural Resources, and Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics

-- Environmental Educators, Nature Center Educators, Environmental Club Leaders, and Volunteer Educators

-- FFA (Future Farmers of America) and 4-H Educators
