PA Oil & Gas Industrial Facilities: Permit Notices/Opportunities To Comment - February 3

The following DEP notices were published in the
February 3 PA Bulletin related to oil and gas industry facilities.  Many of the notices offer the opportunity for public comments.

-- On January 29, Protect PT announced Commonwealth Court issued an opinion vacating the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County’s order affirming the decision of the Plum Zoning Hearing Board [Allegheny County] and remanding the Penneco Environmental Solutions, LLC Sadat 4a oil and gas wastewater injection well approval back to the Plum Borough Zoning Hearing Board. 

The order requires the Zoning Hearing Board to make additional findings of fact or to conduct further hearings to establish such facts prior to granting Penneco’s request to expand its injection well operations in Plum Borough.  Read more here.

-- Sunoco Inc. - Philadelphia Refinery (AOI 10): DEP received a Risk Assessment/Cleanup Plan for remediation of soil and groundwater contaminated with lead and organic chemicals for a facility at 3144 Passyunk Ave., Philadelphia. (PA Bulletin, page 541)

-- Sunoco Inc. - Marcus Hook Refinery (AOI 2): DEP received a Cleanup Plan for soil and groundwater contaminated with inorganic chemicals for a facility in Marcus Hook, Delaware County.  (PA Bulletin, page 541)

-- Chesapeake Appalachia, LLC - Susan Shale Gas Well Pad: DEP approved Final Report on remediation of soil contaminated with production wastewater for pad located in Auburn Twp., Susquehanna County. (PA Bulletin, page 542)

-- SWN Production Company, LLC - Moore West Range Shale Gas Well Pad: DEP approved Final Report on remediation of groundwater contaminated with production wastewater for pad located in Silver Lake Twp., Susquehanna County. (PA Bulletin, page 542)

-- EQM Gathering OPCO, LLC - Natural Gas Pipeline Station: DEP issued a GP-5A Air Quality General Permit covering multiple air pollution sources at the facility located in Franklin Twp., Greene County. (PA Bulletin, page 543)
