DCNR Invites Letters Of Interest To Serve On PA Trails Advisory Committee

On October 4, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Secretary Cindy Adams Dunn announced the agency is accepting letters of interest and resumes for two voluntary positions that will be opening on the 2024
Pennsylvania Trails Advisory Committee.

Letters of interest and resumes are due by October 31 and must be submitted by email to: RA-explorepatrails@pa.gov.

“The Pennsylvania Trails Advisory Committee is an extraordinary group that helps set the course for our trails system for years to come,” Dunn said. “We look forward hearing from those interested in adding their passion and expertise to fill our need to add passionate, creative trail enthusiasts to the committee.”

The agency is seeking interested parties to voluntarily represent each of the following user groups: Mountain Biking and Walking.

Members will serve a three-year term starting Monday, January 1, 2024.

The 20-member, DCNR-appointed Trails Advisory Committee is charged with implementing the development of a statewide land and water trail network to facilitate recreation, transportation, and healthy lifestyles for all.

The committee represents both motorized and non-motorized trail users and advises the Commonwealth on the use of state and federal trail funding.

DCNR is committed to building a culture of diversity and inclusion and strives to provide representation from geographic areas across the state.

To increase representation from the northern portions of the state, individuals from those areas are strongly encouraged to apply.

DCNR encourages residents to get outside and spend time on a trail to help improve health and wellness throughout the year.

Each year, the Trail Advisory Committee selects a Trail of the Year to help build enthusiasm and support for both large and small trails and raise public awareness about the value of Pennsylvania’s trail network.

The Mount Jewett to Kinzua Bridge Trail in McKean County was honored as Pennsylvania’s 2023 Trail of the Year.
