The in-person event at Mill 19 at Hazelwood Green (4501 Lytle Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15207) runs from 9:00 a.m. to noon with networking and registration beginning at 8:00 a.m.
This Summit will explore business opportunities in the transition to a clean energy economy, featuring CEOs who have made bold commitments to reduce carbon emissions.
The CEOs for Sustainability network exemplifies business action toward reaching the goals set forth in the 2015 Paris Agreement, which aim to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius compared to pre-industrial levels.
“Whether it’s to reduce costs and business risks, strengthen relationships with suppliers and other key stakeholders, or drive innovation, businesses increasingly understand the case for carbon-emissions reduction,” said Charles Toran, CEOs for Sustainability co-chair and President of Sci-Tek Consultants. “This year’s C-Suite Summit is an opportunity for executives to hear from their peers who are achieving ambitious goals and gain perspective on what it will take to decarbonize our region across sectors.”
In recent months, CEOs for Sustainability and Sustainable Pittsburgh solicited input and convened conversations among regional stakeholders on comprehensive, equity-driven, multi-sector decarbonization, including during a session at the Global Clean Energy Action Forum in September.
Emerging from these perspectives comes an effective strategy to build on, guided by three critical lines of effort, in every sector: policies and implementations that achieve scale, meaningful community engagement, and measurement and accountability.
The Summit will explore these and other insights, reveal practical next steps, and provide examples of regional success.
“As the CEO of a mid-size manufacturing company, I understand the challenges our peers face in taking urgent action around climate change,” said Raymond W. Yeager, CEOs for Sustainability co-chair and President and CEO of DMI Companies. “One of the values this summit offers is the ability to hear firsthand from experts who are already doing these things – and the solutions they are implementing to overcome roadblocks.”
The summit also features “sustainability in practice,” a panel discussion where business leaders will share how they are implementing real strategies for achieving their carbon reduction goals.
Following the panel discussion, Summit attendees have the opportunity to see innovation in action through tours of the Carnegie Mellon University-affiliated ARM (Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing) Institute and the Mill 19 rooftop solar array.
