PennVEST Awards $6.7 Million Grant To Harrisburg Airport To Remove PFAS 'Forever Chemicals' From Water

On June 8, the
PA Infrastructure Investment Authority awarded a $6.7 million forgiveness loan to Harrisburg International Airport to install a granulated activated carbon system to treat PFAS “forever chemicals” in water at HIA in Dauphin County.

"For a second year, I have maintained my commitment to providing dedicated resources to keep our drinking water safe from harmful legacy chemicals like PFAS,” said Gov. Tom Wolf.  “Through the hard work of our PFAS Action Team and continued financial commitments like this one, we can ensure the health and welfare of countless Pennsylvanians.”

The application period for interested parties to apply for funding through the PFAS funding program opens every spring.

PennVEST is also receiving additional funding under the federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to deal with PFAS contamination problems.

For more details on how to apply and program eligibility, visit the PA Infrastructure Investment Authority webpage.

Visit DEP’s PFAS In Pennsylvania webpage for more information on these chemicals.
