Join the Pennsylvania Solar Center and our panel of experts as we discuss how abandoned mine lands, brownfields, landfills, and other disturbed lands offer communities and businesses an opportunity for a brighter future with solar.
ARM Group, a Pennsylvania engineering firm, will review how utility-scale solar projects on underutilized lands such as landfills can take advantage of existing grid infrastructure as well as special land characteristics while creating an economic growth model for communities.
The solar development company AC Power will join us to discuss how they’ve been able to transform the toughest sites into productive solar facilities, producing energy, economy and jobs that become proud regional assets.
Innovative community leaders are taking the lead to identify the best locations to redevelop current and formerly contaminated lands, landfills, and mine sites with solar, such as the Eastern PA Coalition for Abandoned Mine Reclamation, and for good reason, too.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s RE-Powering America’s Land Initiative reports that the majority of these projects result in local energy cost savings, local revenue, and local jobs, presenting another strong opportunity to strengthen Pennsylvania’s energy security and independence.
