PA Outdoor Writers Assn. Awards Student Scholarships To Alexis Wildt, Aaron Morder

On June 9, the
PA Outdoor Writers Association announced the award of student scholarships to Alexis Wildt, Northumberland County, and Aaron Morder, Perry County.

Alexis Wildt is one of our 2022 Will Johns Scholarship recipients. Alexis will be furthering her education at the University Park campus in the fall, in the field of Wildlife and Fishery Sciences.

A native of Riverside, Pa., Alexis is involved in Student Government (Sustainability Committee) and THON on campus. Her personal interests include hiking, fishing, mountain biking, camping, and just enjoying nature and seeing wildlife.

After college, her career goals include being a park ranger and possibly getting into marine rescue or animal rehabilitation, all of which will involve speaking with the public and incorporating outdoor communications.

Aaron Morder is the 2022 Toyota Let’s Go Places Scholarship winner and attended our Mansfield conference, participating in the activities, the Saturday work sessions and was recognized at the Saturday banquet.

He is currently a junior in the Fisheries Biology program at Mansfield University. A Perry County native, Morder has taken his love for fishing and Pennsylvania’s water resources and plans to turn it into a career in fisheries biology.

He is planning an internship with Trout Unlimited this summer after having participated in brook trout, redd and culvert repair surveys across Tioga and Potter counties in Pennsylvania’s Northern Tier.

He has also begun his senior research project doing acid deposition work in the upper Tioga River watershed, partnering with the Susquehanna River Basin Committee.
