A new and improved in-person Gala kicks off the online auction on May 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Folino Estate Winery in Kutztown.
Local small businesses, restaurants, and artists have gifted unique, handmade items and experiences that can be bid on virtually through Greater Giving. It is the Sanctuary’s fourth year using the platform to operate the online auction.
The gala will be an evening of mingling, delicious hors d'oeuvres, live music, and raptor encounters. In addition, a live auction will give attendees exclusive access to bid on featured items and events.
“Attending is a must for those wanting to bid on experiences like a private, guided hawkwatching day and much more,” says Tammy Jandrasitz-Bodey, event coordinator.
Previously, the benefit has been virtual due to COVID 19, but it had sold out for nine years before that.
“After two years of having an online-only auction, bringing back an in-person event is a great way to meet friends in person and support a great organization,” Tammy explains.
When attending, guests will celebrate the Sanctuary’s supporters and members with the friendly faces of Hawk Mountain staff. Gala guests will also hear from President Sean Grace as he welcomes attendees and gives Hawk Mountain updates with a brief speech.
“This year’s gala is extra special because we are re-envisioning the event, moving away from a traditional sit-down dinner to focusing more on mingling with wine and hors d'oeuvres at a new venue, and getting to know others in and around the organization,” explains President Sean Grace. “This is a conservation celebration you do not want to miss!”
Details about both the in-person gala and online auction can be found at the Benefit for Birds Spring Campaign and Online Auction webpage. The online auction platform is intuitive and accessible to anyone with a laptop or mobile device.
Hawk Mountain staff will also be available for assistance and troubleshooting during the gala.
