DCNR Conservation & Natural Resources Advisory Council Hosts April 27 Webinar On Economics And The Outdoors - Funding Needs, Opportunities

On April 27, DCNR’s
Conservation and Natural Resources Advisory Council will host Part 2 of its CNRAC Conversations on Economics and the Outdoors from 10:30 a.m. to Noon.

The discussion will cover outdoor recreation and conservation funding needs and opportunities and how communities can make the case for securing dollars to support these vital needs.

The moderator will be Nathan Reigner, Ph.D., PA’s Director of Outdoor Recreation.

Nathan recently joined DCNR to help facilitate the growth and productivity of Pennsylvania’s outdoor recreation sector.

The panel of speakers includes--

-- Becky Bradley, Executive Director of the Lehigh Valley Planning Commission. Becky led the Commission's Return on Environment Study in 2014, which documents the “natural capital” or economic value generated from the flow of goods and services supported by natural resources.

-- Marci Mowery, President, PA Parks and Forests Foundation, whose Protect Our Parks and Forests campaign is drawing attention to the $1.4B infrastructure needs in PA’s parks and forests.

-- Tim Herd, CEO of the PA Recreation and Park Society, the statewide professional association advocating for needed resources to support PA’s municipal parks and recreation needs.

-- Silas Chamberlin, Ph.D., Vice President of Economic and Community Development of the York County Economic Alliance. Silas has been analyzing and encouraging community efforts to use federal rescue and infrastructure dollars to support recreation and conservation needs.

-- Bradley Barkdoll, Advocacy Manager for WeConservePA, which is the managing partner of the Growing Greener Coalition, a group of organizations working to secure funding to support the Commonwealth’s environmental, conservation, and outdoor recreation needs.

The Council encourages questions, suggestions and ideas be sent prior to the meeting so CNRAC can include as many as possible in the discussion.  Please send to Katrina Harris, CNRAC Administrator, at kharris@bridgeconsultingcorp.com.

There will also be the opportunity to use the chat feature during the discussion to provide input.
