PA Resources Council, Partners Offer Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Collection Locations In Allegheny, Mercer Counties In April

The
PA Resources Council will offer Traveling Glass Recycling Bin collection locations in Allegheny and Mercer counties in April to provide residents with a higher quality glass recycling option than typical curbside programs, ensuring that glass deposited into the bin meets the highest standards and can be fully recycled.

The locations include--

-- Allegheny County: April 2-7 -  Harrison Hills Park, Chipmunk Drive lot near park office, Freeport Road

hosted by Allegheny County; and

-- Mercer County: April 30 - May 5 - City of Hermitage Fire Station #3, 541 Mercer Avenue, Hermitage, PA 16148 (across from Morefield Cemetery) hosted by City of Hermitage

“The bin visits various locations on a weekly basis from Saturday through Thursday, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and provides residents with a safe method for recycling glass while eliminating the need to interact with other individuals or touch shared surfaces,” according to Ashley DiGregorio, PRC Recycling Markets and Grants Manager.

Individuals can drop off glass bottles, jars and jugs of all colors (no color sorting required).  Containers should be empty and rinsed, with lids and labels still on.  Bags and boxes used to deliver glass must be discarded off-site.

Last year, PRC’s glass recycling program enabled 30,000 households in western Pennsylvania to drop of more than one million pounds of bottles, jars and jugs for recycling.

PRC’s Traveling Glass Recycling Bin Program is sponsored by Owens-Illinois, Inc. and CAP Glass and is made possible through a partnership with Michael Brothers Hauling & Recycling.
