Compilation Of Stories, Photos, Poems, Songs Pennsylvanians Created To Celebrate The 50th Anniversary Of The PA Environmental Rights Amendment

In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Environmental Rights Amendment to Pennsylvania's Constitution in 2021, the
PA Parks and Forests Foundation hosted special initiatives to engage the public and raise awareness about this monumental accomplishment approved overwhelmingly by voters in 1971.

The text of the Amendment is short, but powerful--

“The people have a right to clean air, pure water, and to the preservation of the natural, scenic, historic and esthetic values of the environment. Pennsylvania’s public natural resources are the common property of all the people, including generations yet to come. As trustee of these resources, the Commonwealth shall conserve and maintain them for the benefit of all the people.” -- Article I, Section 27.

Click Here to find the collection of poems, essays, photos, and songs shared with the Foundation and the public from Pennsylvanians all over the state about what the Environmental Rights Amendment means to them.

Now it's up to all Pennsylvanians to fulfill our constitutional duty as trustees to protect the Commonwealth’s environmental rights and resources for all of us and the generations yet to come.
