SEEDS Of Northeastern PA Will Host Local Members Of Earth To Sky Partnership At Annual Membership Meeting on Sept. 29

SEEDS of Northeastern Pennsylvania (SEEDS) is pleased to announce its Annual Membership Meeting will be held September 29 starting at 6:00 p.m. at The Cooperage Project, 1030 Main Street, Honesdale, Wayne County.

This event is open to the public, but only members will be able to participate in the Board Member elections.

This year’s annual meeting will be a hybrid event, combining both an engaging in-person program, voting for board members and food available for purchase with a live-streamed broadcast.

This event will be the most inclusive SEEDS Annual Membership Meeting to date, enabling more members, business partners, and residents than ever before to learn and participate.

In case there is a Covid-19 emergency, the event will go fully virtual.

SEEDS looks forward to continuing to lead in providing our community with excellent and timely sustainability-focused programming that matches the needs of our transforming environment.

Additional program details will be coming soon and can be found on our website and Facebook page. More details about the annual meeting will be released in the coming weeks.

Earth To Sky Interagency Partnership

This spring, 20 residents of Wayne, Sullivan, Delaware, and Pike Counties participated in a nine-week virtual course in climate change science and communication.

This course was organized by regional leaders with the Earth to Sky Interagency Partnership, a collaboration between NASA, the National Park Service, and other organizations to promote access to NASA climate science and support excellent climate communication.

The course focused on local impacts of climate change on agriculture, health, forests, and aquatic ecosystems, as well as environmental justice in the Upper Delaware River Watershed.

Groups from each county developed action plans to communicate issues relevant to their communities.

At this year’s SEEDS annual membership meeting, these groups will present their experience and the projects they’re undertaking to achieve their goals.

“The county teams’ projects will help us lessen the effects of and adapt to the changes in climate that we’re already seeing, as well as to some of the local changes we are facing as the result of the pandemic,” said Mary Anne Carletta, Wayne County representative of the Earth to Sky Program. “Having access to the latest science via the Earth to Sky Partnership gives us a boost in planning for the future of our home.”
